RETIRO.Retiro is the most important historical and artistic park of the city, with an extension of about 120 hectares and 15,000 trees. It is situated eastern part of Madrid city centre and it is the green area of the city. It formed part of the enclosure of Buen Retiro Palace, of which it is nowadays preserved only the House of Buen Retiro and the Lounge of the Kingdoms, now the Army Museum. It is the ideal place to have a walk and to relax in the nature. In addition, there are many monuments, sculptures and palaces to be visited (Puerta de España, Palacio de Cristal, Paseo de las Estatuas, …) and you can also catch a boat and have a trip in the well-known pond of the park. It is normally open rom 6,00am to 23,00 pm with some variation in winter/summer periods.
