TORREMOLINOS. Torremolinos is a small town in the region of Andalusia in the province of Malaga, and consists of three districts: "El Bajondillo", "El Calvario" and "La Carihuela."
It is located on the south coast of the Iberian peninsula (called “Costa del Sol”), about 12 km southwest to Malaga, below the mountais “Sierra de Mijas”. Previously, there were numerous mills (Molinos) and several security towers (Torres) in order to protect from pirates attacks, that’s why the name is "Torresmolinos". Due to its sea location, there are fantastic beaches and a mild climate which have turned the city into a popular holiday destination. There are numerous hotels and restaurants and also entertainment activities, exhibitions and theatres. Halfway to Malaga and Torremolinos (about 6 km away), it is located the airport of Malaga. The local train LINEA C-1 to the airport leaves each 30 minutes and you can easily reach Malaga or also go to the southwest to Fuengirola.
